SCORE

We think our volunteers and clients are the best, so we want to share them with you! This week, we are highlighting volunteer Larry Ornstein, Former Senior Vice President at Hess.

Q: How did you get involved with SCORE?

A: I retired at the end of 2014. I did a lot of mentoring in my career and I'm a big believer in knowledge transfer, so I signed up for SCORE in March 2015.

Q: What is your favorite part about volunteering for SCORE?

A: My favorite part is working with small business owners and transferring knowledge that I've gained from previous experiences to them. I also enjoy teaching workshops.

Q: Do you have a favorite workshop that you lead?

A: I teach the workshop "How to Write a Successful Business Plan." It's one of my favorites because I believe business plans are such an integral part of starting a business.

Q: What can we look forward to with SCORE going into the rest of 2018?

A: Introducing new and relevant topics to the small business community such as social media, the new immigration rules and regulations, cybersecurity, just to name a few.

Q: Why should others sign up to volunteer for SCORE?

A: If you have time on your hands and are a previous business owner or were in the business world, no matter what your position was, leaving your mark on society, giving small businesses a higher chance of success, and the transfer of knowledge is one of the best feelings.
