Most of the time a business starts up with just the entrepreneur - but the goal is to bring on one or two employees just as soon as revenue allows the additional expense. As the business grows, more employees are added and then more supervisors and finally some of the owner's titles are transferred to newly hired - or promoted - executives. For many entrepreneurs, that is when "The Troubles" start - because keeping employees motivated, happy and productive can be a full time job.

There has been a lot of in dedicated to writing about how different the Millennials are from the Gen X'ers or the Baby Boomers - but not a lot of ink dedicated to what an employer can do to motivate them when they all work in the same company at the same time. If you are running a small company, how do you unscramble the employee benefit three-egg omelet so it works for all generations.

The Florida labor market is at full employment and described as the best labor market in 30 years. That means it's a great time for head hunters - or those employees who want to be hunted. And, it's a bad time for employers who don't want to lose valuable employees they have spent time, energy and resources to train.

Today's guest is Connie Chiara who has built a company that helps clients create greater return from their employee benefit programs. Employers, especially small business employers care a lot about cost of benefits. What is the biggest bang they can get for their buck - and that's where Connie excels by finding the best possible programs that motivate employees while also keeping within a budget framework.
