It didn't take long for the local Chambers of Commerce and the NFIB to join into the promotion effort and combined with the advertising clout of giant AmEx, the "Shop Small" event has become a staple of the Holiday shopping season.
Last year, 95 million Americans went out to shop last Small Business Saturday, almost as many as voted in the recent Presidential election - and they spent $14.3 billion with American entrepreneurs out of a total shopping frenzy weekend of $51 Billion!
Today's program features representatives of 3 major Chambers of Commerce in our area and they talk about how the Chamber is helping small business members promote the Shop Small concept. With 170,000 small businesses in Palm Beach County, spending even $100 at each of them would create an enormous windfall for them and our local economy. Remember that 50% of every dollar spent with a small business remains in the local community economy.
